Schrödinger Suite

Thanks to the generous support of the Tri-Institutional Therapeutics Discovery Institute (TDI), Weill Cornell researchers have unlimited access to the Schrödinger suite of software.

Due to licensing agreements with Schrodinger, the software will ONLY work on ITS tagged computers while connected to the WCMC network or connected with client VPN (WebVPN will not work).

  • The software may be used only by faculty, researchers, students or employees of WCMC.
  • The software may only be used for academic or research purposes and cannot be used for any project that supports, or is supported by, a commercial enterprise. This restriction does not apply to basic research projects supported by a commercial enterprise where the commercial enterprise has no interest or rights in the research outcome.
    • Specifically, the software may not be used in connection with drug discovery projects funded by a commercial entity.
  • Use of the software in any other manner (or in a manner prohibited above) may require a separate license agreement.

Installation procedures
The main tool in the Schrödinger suite is Maestro. To get started, once the software has been installed, start Maestro, and select Tutorials from the Help menu.
For Macs
  • Download the .dmg file above and obtain two license keys files from the TDI website.
  • Double click the .dmg file and accept all defaults during the installation procedure.
  • Navigate to the Schrödinger support folder from the Go menu in the Finder. Select Computer, then navigate from Macintosh HD -> Library -> Application Support -> Schrodinger.
  • Create a new folder called license in the Schrodinger folder.
  • Move the two license files into the license folder.
  • Optionally, drag the Maestro application icon (/Applications/SchrodingerSuites2014-4/Maestro) to your Dock.
For Windows
Note that depending on the speed of your computer, this installation procedure can take up to an hour.
  • Download the .zip file above and obtain two license keys files from the TDI website.
  • Right click the downloaded .zip file and choose Extract all. (Simply double-clicking the file will not work).
  • Navigate to the extracted folder and run setup.exe.
  • Accept all the defaults, with one possible exception. The Filetypes dialog will ask you whether you want to associate certain file types (such as .pdb files) with Schrödinger. This is recommended unless you use other molecular modeling software (such as ChemOffice, ChemDraw or PyMol) and do not want Schrödinger to be the default method of opening these files.
  • Navigate to C:\Program Files\Schrodinger2014-4.
  • Create a new folder called license.
  • Move the two license files into the license folder.
